How to Treat Yourself to a Nourishing Pedicure in 7 Easy Steps

Pedicures give you and your feet the ultimate wellness feeling. You know what we’re talking about… arriving at the salon, sitting in the big, comfy chair, picking your favorite nail polish, and getting pampered for a whole hour—foot massage included.

In a perfect world, you would treat yourself to a pedicure often. Pedicures keep your nails healthy, your skin hydrated, and your feet happy. Unfortunately, pedicures aren’t the most accessible for everyone and they might not be a priority for you... but that doesn't mean you can’t get that soothing spa feeling at home.

In this blog, we’re sharing with you a step-by-step guide to pamper your feet at home. And it’s not just any pedicure, but a spa-at-home kinda pedi. It’s totally worthwhile.

Why Are Pedicures Important? These are the Benefits!

Pedicures aren’t only about relaxing and getting pampered. They also help you keep your feet fresh, happy, and healthy. And pampering your feet comes with many benefits.

Here’s why you should get regular pedicures:

Great Looking Feet

No more trying to hide your beautiful feet inside your shoes. Pedicures keep your feet looking summer-ready, so you can wear those stylish sandals you love with confidence.

Healthy Nails

Is nail health even a thing? Of course! And pedicures are key to keeping your nails in tip-top shape. Plus, regular pedicures can help you detect fungal infections.

Bye, Bye Dead Skin.

Cracked heels? Dry skin? No problem! With a relaxing pedicure, your feet will feel as soft as a baby’s bum.

Feel Great

Honestly… is there anything better than treating yourself to a relaxing pedicure? Especially with a foot massage included. Pampering your feet feels good. And you’ll get an amazing wellness feeling afterward.

How Often Should You Get a Pedi?

Your feet go through a lot. They take you places and support your entire body. To keep your feet happy and healthy, you want to treat yourself to a pedicure every 4 to 6 weeks. And you can choose to do it in a salon or at home.

Regular pedicures keep dead skin from accumulating and causing calluses and hard patches on your feet. Plus, sneaking in a foot massage into your pedicure boosts your mood!

How to Give Yourself a Pedicure

The good thing about pedicures is that you don’t need any special tools to get it done. A simple nail kit is enough. And if you like wearing polish, a cute color of your choice.

This is what you’ll need:

  • A container that will fit your feet filled with warm water (could be your bathtub too!)
  • Essential oils and/or Epsom salts (optional)
  • Nail polish remover (if you’re wearing any)
  • Nail clipper
  • A nail file
  • A pumice stone or brush
  • Foot cream
  • Cuticle oil
  • Nail polish (optional)

Self Pedicure in 7 Easy Steps

Before you start, gather all the things you need to turn your home into a spa. We encourage you to light a few candles, play your favorite podcast or music, and why not, pour yourself a glass of wine. This pedicure is all about you.

Once your house-turned-spa is ready, follow these easy steps for the ultimate foot-care pedicure.

  1. Remove Nail Polish

If you’re wearing any nail polish, remove it before getting started with your pedicure. For healthy-looking toenails, remember to give them a break from nail polish. Also, choose non-toxic brands to ease the load of chemicals in your nails.

  1. Soak

Warm up some water and add essential oils or Epsom salts for an extra touch of relaxation. Lavender is our favorite fragrance for pedicures. Then, soak your feet for 10 to 20 minutes.

  1. Trim & File

Carefully trim and file each of your toenails. As you do one foot, try to keep the other one in the water or wrap a warm towel around it.

  1. Scrub

After your nails are all set, grab your pumice stone and scrub at any dead skin. Make sure to give extra love to those parts of your feet that tend to get harder. Nothing beats the feel of super-smooth feet.

  1. Cuticle Care

Your cuticles are very important since they keep bacteria away from your nails. That said, you don’t want to mess with them. Let an expert handle your cuticles. But that doesn't mean you can’t give them some love.

Grab a cuticle care oil and apply it to each nail. It makes a difference for your nails and you don’t risk damaging your cuticles.

  1. Give yourself a foot massage

What better way to finish a relaxing pedicure than an even more relaxing foot massage? Lucky for you, we wrote a step-by-step guide to giving yourself a foot massage. Trust us. Don’t skip this step.

Before starting with the massage, grab some foot cream and rub it all over your feet!

  1. Apply Nail Polish

Finally, time to glam up your nails! Choose your favorite color and apply it to each toenail. Once your nails are completely dry, put on your SilverSpun® socks and let the wellness feeling wash over you.

You’re DONE! And now, you can give yourself a ‘spa feeling’ at home as often as you want.
